What is Reiki? Reiki is an ancient Japanese healing technique used for stress reduction and relaxation. The word Reiki is formed from the Japanese words Rei, meaning "Universal" and "Ki", meaning "life force energy". Reiki is a form of spiritual healing using "universal life energy" which may harmonize body, mind and spirit. There is no pressure on the body making it ideal for treating all ages and conditions. There is no belief system tied to Reiki so anyone can receive a Reiki treatment.
It's all about energy! Personally, I regularly practice raising my energy (or frequency) through several exercises which are meant just for that. Scientifically, when I am working with a client, their energy will increase and perhaps even match mine. In the field of science this is called entrainment. Entrainment simply means synchronized. My hands are usually held away from the recipient's body. The client may feel a warm sensation or tingling in their body as their frequency begins to soar.
After a Reiki session, individuals may feel a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and around their body. Reiki treats the whole body - physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, creating a sense of well-being, security, peace and relaxation. The client's increased energy will flow where it needs to go. These feelings may last for hours or even days.
As I practice Reiki my mind is thinking LOVE! I express my love to Great Spirit, the Universe and myself. I send unconditional love to the client. In my mind I am singing of love. Love is powerful and connects me with all around me.
Reiki can take place anywhere. However, I love practicing Reiki, especially in water, be it a swimming pool, stream or lake. The water acts as a natural cleanser and carrier of energy. When a client is laying on a float and being open to the flow of energy there is a sense of relaxation with subtle, yet powerful benefits.
